The founder and president of Blue Sky Marketing & Consulting, Inc. is Gary Herwood. Gary has been in management positions in US and international trade since 1980. He has been a principal at retail, manufacturing, trading and sales representation and an executive in a large, publicly held corporation. He has been responsible for sales budgets from less than $1,000,000 to over $100,000,000. Gary has developed US  and multi-national sales and distribution networks for food, health & beauty and home furnishings products. He started Blue Sky Marketing and Consulting, Inc. in early 1997.

Texas Sustainable Industries, LLC - Manufacturer of "EcoWattle" - biodegradable erosion control "logs". Product development, strategic planning, website development, marketing.

Private Island Furniture  - Manufacturer of branded and contract furniture in Indonesia. Product Development, web site development, marketing.

Amazon Wellness Products - Early stage of planning for plantation of fruit bearing palms and trees and juice processing plant. Financial, market analysis.

Kraft  Foods International -  Developed market in Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro and Manaus, Brazil for selected Kraft products. (2000 - 2002)

ConAgra Foods - Developed market in Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro and Manaus, Brazil for selected ConAgra products - Pam Cooking Spray, Healthy Choice Soups, Swiss Miss Cocoa Mix. (2001 - 2005)

Pueblo Supermarkets - chain of over 50 supermarkets in Puerto Rico and US Virgin Islands. Assisted in improving product sourcing, improved logistics, established sales program to other Caribbean islands using Pueblo inventory and warehouse in San Juan. Coordinated changes in mainframe software to integrate new selling program. (1997 - 2002)



Gary Herwood - work history prior to starting Blue Sky Marketing and Consulting, Inc.:

Director - Sales and Marketing, Fleming International, Miami, FL — 1993 - 1997   Responsible for sales and marketing $200mm export division of Fleming Foods ($21b annual sales), Exports were previously part of three domestic divisions. Newly created division consolidated marketing and sales efforts. Averaged sales results of 10% over budget and expenses 15% under budget. Managed sales staff of 12, administrative staff of 18. Internal responsibilities included budget preparation and presentation to corporate, development of pricing models and division P & L management.  Sales efforts included developing merchandising plans for customers’ new stores and remodels. Sales staff coordinated resets performed by team provided by Fleming domestic. Traveled extensively in the Caribbean and Latin America.

Director of Strategic Planning / Sales Director, Fleming Non-Foods, Memphis, TN — 1990 - 1993  Brought in as part of turn-around team to get $300mm division profitable (acquired in LBO). Personally directed development of turn-around plan, then managed sales side implementation. Managed 11 branch managers throughout Southeast US with over 125 sales associates. Completely restructured inbound and outbound logistics, warehouse throughput processes, pricing and compensation policies. Division moved from minus $30mm to positive $20mm in third year.  Moved by Fleming to Miami as part of team to manage new export division.

Partner, Richwood Farms, Dallas, TX — 1987 - 1990   Responsible for sales, finance and administration of small start up specialty foods manufacturer. Sold company in mid 1990.

Partner, Bluebonnet Natural Foods Supermarket — 1984 - 1987  Became partner with responsibility for expansion of natural foods retailer, from 3,000 to 21,000 sq. ft. store. Managed design and remodel of new store, including departmental layouts. Put together financing for expansion and managed administration after relocation. Lead negotiations and finalized sale to Whole Foods Market.

Vice President, Oak Lawn Development Corp., Dallas, TX — 1981 - 1986  Minority partner with responsibility for design, sales, marketing, construction loan and office administration for developer of high-end condominium and townhouse projects. Company built and sold 8 developments.
